I found this while I was cleaning out an old file from the mid-1990's. I am sure there is a healtier version but wanted to share this one here: 2 10 oz pkgs oyster crackers 3/4 cup cooking oil 1 1/2 tsp dill weed 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp seasoned salt 1 pkg Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Put crackers in a 13 x 9 cake pan. Mix other ingredients together and pour over crackers. Stir occasionally for about 8 hours. Store in an air tight container. Mary It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.

Thanks for finding the old recipe. It's been so long since I have had them because I haven't been able to find the recipes either. Super Bowl Sunday is coming up and need things to snack on. mike

it might be an old recipe to some .. but i've never seen this one before - it looks great - thanks! I like to use oyster crackers as plain croutons in my salads - it's easier on my old and not so many as i used to have teeth. These sound like a great way to flavor them up for salads and soups. bitsy - "Don't Forget To Save Your Spoon"

I think these are fabulous! I make them at least once a month as my niece and nephew love to snack on them. My daughter and I have also found that they make great soup crackers when you need just a little extra flavor! We espepcially enjoy them in potato soup and chili, but find they are also great in cram soups and chicken noodle.

Thanks for the post. I lost my recipe for these. It's on my list to make. They now have tiny saltine crackers. I think by Nabisco. This might be a new ideal to try with them.

May I put in my 2 cents worth on this recipe? Instead of Seasoned Salt, try using Lemon Pepper. It gives this munchie a little punch. Also, when I make this I put it all together in my Dutch oven and stick it in a 300-degree oven for about 10 minutes. Makes all the difference in the world. I made these for our Labor Day campout. I made a double batch and they were gone before the smores when I got them out at the campfire! I guess the kids didn't have to get hot to make them! LOL! I think the grown ups ate just as many though! Mindo With God, ALL things are POSSIBLE! Keep cooking!

I got this basic recipe years ago from my uncle and make them alot. I did alter it some, though. I only use 1/2 cup of oil-and only canola oil. I also add no additional salt-the Hidden Valley is salty enough. There are any number of other herbs you could use to flavor it to personal taste. You don't have to put them in the oven, but doing so tends to help to set everything to the crackers (I use 225 for about 10-15 min.). I'm planning on trying this with dried bread cubes this week. I don't know why it wouldn't be just as good! I tried to make this a little healthier back when I weighed 475 lbs. Now I'm down to 160 lbs. but I've definately learned healthier is better !!!!!!!
