If you read my other post, you know that the Reynolds Handi-vac had been discontinued. I got adicted to vacuum sealing my food, so now I am looking for one to purchase. If anyone out there has one, I'm looking for recomendations. Would like to keep the price under $100, and it needs to be portable because I won't have room on my counters for it. Thanx....

I have a Food Saver and have had it for over 10 years now. I like it very much.

Just saw a commercial for a new hand held vaccuum sealer made by FoodSaver called the Fresh Saver. ( Works the same as the reynolds one did)  Checked it out on their website and it's listed for $29.99.  Not sure how much it will be in the stores but the commercial did say it's available where FoodSaver products are sold.

Here's a link to it http://www.foodsaver.com/freshsaver/

Thanx BK....I went to the website, and unfortunately this product is not recommended for the freezer. Says it should only be used for refrigerated items. So I guess I'm still looking, because it's for the freezer that I am looking for. The stuff I put in the fridge doesn't last long enough to have to be vacuum sealed.

I use the FoodSaver and Yes it really isn't portable so I store it on one of the shelves of my Kitchen Cart and return it to there when I am finished using it.  My Kitchen Counters are for storing junk and other stuff like sharp knives and vegetables from the garden that I haven't gotten around to cleaning up and preserving. )

I Love cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food!! Money isn't everything but it sure keeps the kids and grandchildren in touch !!

Okay guys....I have been looking around and comparison shopping on these things. Looks like the food saver is the best quality. I now have another question for you Mike and Chuck.....do you use the bags or the roll....and which is the easiest to find and more economical. Guess this will be my Christmas present from me to me. Thanx for your help.

I use both bags and rolls. The rolls are cheeper in the long run. I like to use the 11 inch roll for dividing up my bacon. I take 6 strips off the slab and into a short bag.
