Let's see it is 2252 and I am waiting for My Bride to come home so that I can kiss her often and well. She says that makes her HAPPY and then some. She is off tomorrow and that means that we get to go out for breakfast and then visit Sam's Club, Super Wally World and last but not least Costco. I've got a big long list of vittles that we need. We use a computerized shopping list and it really saves us money when we go shopping. There are only two of us but we know how to store and pack our food so that it doesn't take up that much space. Paper products are divided up and a supply  is kept near each dispenser. Be it toilet paper rolls or paper rolls of Bounty.
Even beef roasts are sliced up for future usage, some for sandwiches and some for meals several weeks away. It all depends on how thin I slice the meat and then they are vacuum packed and frozen with the date of sealing on them and then we enter them on a master list so that either one of us can take a look at it and we know where it is being stored and how much there is. All food and paper goods are costed down to the price per ounce or each depending on what it is. This method has saved us many, many dollars over the years. If you would like to set up a system similar to ours just give me a shout. The software that we use is "Open Sourced", I'm sure that Microsoft has a spread sheet that you can use. We do take it with us when we go shopping and it is right out there for GOD and the Store Managers to see and look at . We do have the prices right on the sheet and the sheets show which store has the best price per ounce. We have been questioned by managers in all of the stores that we frequent and they have looked at the pages of sheets. They also know that all of the information is for our own usage and we do not pass the information on to anybody else.  We can tell at a glance how much the prices have risen or dropped. They very rarely drop by the way and when a store says it is having a Sale you can safely bet that most of the prices have risen and only one or two items have experienced a drop in pricing.  Our sheets tell us right away if Sam's has gone up or if Costco has priced themselves out of reach this week on something. Super Wally World is higher than either Sam's or Costco but they are much cheaper than your normal grocery store. We do realize that some sections of this Country are cheaper to live in than the area that we live in. But we like it here and our Grand Children are fairly close by and that matters to My Bride quite a bit.
We also use "Quicken" to keep our bills and payments  in one spot on the computer so that when I am doing our taxes for the fiscal period or for Uncle Sam I have all of our apples in one hat. Our taxes used to take us all day and sometimes into the night before we knew if we paid or received. Now it is all finished in a couple of hours and filed and our refund is on its way in a matter of days instead of months or weeks. I use Turbo Tax deluxe and I am also part of their Beta team for testing tax schedules. I do realize that not everybody here knows the difference between a debit or a credit and there are certain things that I will not allow my Bride to use like "Debit Cards". We also do not use cash advances or those one armed bandits called cash machines that it seems all banks love to push. If we are close to running short well then we don't need whatever it is that we want. We do keep a safety net available but you would have to break both of our arms to get us to use it. We save that for bailing out our Kids Or their Children and that seems to be happening more and more.

Have a Very Beautiful Day.

Chuck

I Love cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food!! Money isn't everything but it sure keeps the kids and grandchildren in touch !!

It is almost 4 a.m. here and I can't sleep (again). I am sitting in front of the computer trying to figure out what I should talk about in my blog today (www.doindinner.blogspot.com). I think I will ramble on about biscuits. Checked my email and facebook and the CCA forum. Doesn't seem to be many people around this time of day. Well, if I get my blog done I can go back to bed and maybe try to get another hour of sleep before the alarm goes off.

Other than reading the forms-I came home a little while ago from my Mom's totally hurt by my brothers and sisters.  I was accused of doing something I know I did not do and they won't believe me. I get into enough trouble all by myself.  I don't need to be accused of doing something I didn't do. You can't pick your family so I guess I have to put up with them. I still love them all but they drive me crazy sometimes. Sigh......
