The changes I made are as follows:

CHANGES TO INGREDIENTS
I didn't use a pie crust, I put olive oil and croutons on the bottom of my 2 quart round baking dish.
I added onions, tomato, and thyme, and omitted the salt. 
I used 1 pound of fresh broccoli florets instead of the frozen, and I steamed the broccoli. 
I used 6 eggs and 2 cups of milk.

CHANGES TO DIRECTIONS
Instead of combining the butter with the egg mixture, I sauteed the onion and mushrooms in the butter.  After sauteing, I added the steamed broccoli to it and combined well.
I spread the cheese as directed onto the croutons, then covered it with the broccoli mixture, poured in the egg mixture, and finally topped with the sliced tomato and thyme.
